actually, as for the top side it was pretty straight-forward with aluminium aluminium profile, stainless fasteners, drills, dremel tool, rivnuts and so forth.

But I also decided to fix the bottom end and I think I made it. You'll need a drill with a thin (I used 2mm) bore bit and some screws of appropriate size. Remember to pay attention not only to the length a and thickness, but also to the head dia. FWIW 3.8x25 screws with a head of 8mm dia worked perfect for me.
Now-how: after you drilled a small hole into the stock grill leg and just inserted the fixing screw, apply some heavy heat - e.g. off the propane torch - to the screw and then quickly screw it in. This will make the screw-to-plastic joint more solid and will slightly re-enforce the plastic part (which is old and thus having lots of internal cracks.
