Could also be oxidized ground connections that when hot are screwing up voltages to the ignition, ECU, and injection stuff, since you mention a weak spark. I first also thought leaking injectors. Unless all 4 are bad you should at least hear some cylinders trying to fire. Would a broken fuel pressure diaphragm load up the intake manifold with gasoline (due to the check valve maintaining fuel pressure until dissipated) through the vac.line off of the FP reg? I once bought a Saab that had an engine fire due to a really big backfire! If you pull the top vac. plastic connector from the intake manifold you can see if there is a lake of fuel staring you in the face. Good fortune...
