After careful study I found a small piece of rotor chunk I must have missed in the distributor when I removed a rotor that was glued on, which later somehow jammed with moving parts below that shutter wheel/metal and is what caused the Hall Sensor failure when it snapped a part off. The fix on the ECU lilac wire was from this site, done by others for a test, but not sure I saw any mention of being able to leave it that way or pursue a ECU replacement. By the way I saw a solid lilac color wire and a lilac/white color wire and just guessed they meant the solid lilac wire for the work-around ground.
