Oh, darn, this is one of those detailed responses that got lost in the system crash.
Here's a bit of a rewrite:
It depends on whether you feel you'll never need to take the new door off again.
You'd be better off splicing to the old connectors or to new connectors since it's a real PITA to do electrical work (crimping, soldering, heat shrinking, etc.) in the small space in front of the door bulkhead. Using crimp-on butt connectors might be a short-term solution, but butt connectors leave a pathway for water to get into the joint, cause corrosion, and bring you all sorts of electrical issues.
If I were faced with the same situation, even though the likelihood that I'd have to replace the door again is small, I'd terminate the existing wiring on both sides in new connectors.
I looked at the Weatherpack terminals Justin posted about. They're very much like SAAB used in the NG 900s and far superior to the ones in the C900s. From the standpoint of "doing it right", they'd be my choice.

Justin's post on connectors:
I have had good luck with the ones sold by http://www.wiringproducts.com - their nylon and heat shrink quick disconnect terminals are as good as any and are priced right. They do also have double-crimp connectors if you go for that.
Lately, though, I've dumped the quick disconnects entirely and switched over to Weatherpack terminals sourced from waytekwire.com - the positive latches and weatherproofing are nice, and while they cost a fair amount individually, I just don't use enough of them that the cost makes a big difference. Multiterminal connectors don't get tangles or confused with each other, either. :) They are proper, automotive grade connectors which, when assembled correctly, are robust and durable.
