Re: Engine Starts then Stops Posted by bikerdad [Email] In Reply to: Engine Starts then Stops, bikerdad |
I have checked for spark and fuel. I replaced the plugs, cap, rotor and wires because one plug did not have a blue spark, it was yellow. Now they are all firing bright blue as long as the engine is turning over. I installed a pressure gauge in the fuel line and there is pressure. Even after the pump stops it maintains around 28 PSI for a few minutes. I have checked the throttle position sensor and the automatic idle control with a voltmeter and they check out to what the Bentley manual says they should. I have looked for vacuum leaks and have not found any. I pulled the service engine codes before I did tests on the system and the codes pointed to air/vacuum leaks and/or running lean. It doesn't make sense to me that it fires 2-3 times and then stops. It doesn't matter if I have the throttle open or closed. If I continue to turn the engine over it still never fires again, but it always fires when I first turn the engine over. I also ran through the fuel injection component test and everything clicked like it was supposed to. I will appreciate any further tests you can suggest for me to try.
