I hope your "fix" holds for as long as you own the car, but I find the diagnosis counterinuitive, to say the least. That is, you report in the original post that the no-start condition arises only when the car is warm. It's not at all clear to me why a (now) warm battery would be less effective than a cold one. Furthermore, I can't fathom how a resting period (when the battery presumably gets colder) could rejuvenate the starting system.

A fresh battery can make up for many lesser ills and so it can't hurt, but if I had to guess I'd take a hard look at the charging system-- alternator and voltage regulator as well as all grounding points-- before closing the book on this one.
