Brian - - I don't think there's any way to un-yellow the plastic coating and make it glossy clear again. But I did a little test on one once and have this to suggest:
It's not really chrome, I think it's highly polished light gauge aluminum. What you can do, if patient, is take a razor knife, exacto, etc. and go all around car, slitting through the plastic at bottom edge of silver strip and again at top edge, then at back and front end. Get hold of an edge and peel up - - it will come unstuck from the silver and pull off like cellophane tape. That will reveal the aluminum in its original brightness. Only thing is it won't last for many years if the car is driven much or left outdoors. You could try some Simichrom polish on it if it dulls. At least it won't yellow.
You can't do a thing about the silver vinyl spacer strip in the windshield and rear window rubber, except carefully paint that. It's not made the same as the side trim, and when it turns ugly rusty brown it's permanent.
