The latch hooks into a square hole. The top of the square hole has a snap in plastic piece. I've seen those missing. Also just below the square hole is a small round hole for the rubber bump stop. I've seen that missing is several of my cars. The seatback is more likely to rattle if either of those is missing. Of the two I think the rubber bump is more critical. I've been able to scavenge a rubber bump from the e-brake cable clip that screws onto the rear trailing arm.
