I had a 35 Amp alternator in my 72 Volvo 140 and we used to install the heavy duty 55 Amp when mounting 4 flood lights in the front.

Now the Saab 9-5 keeps frying the lug ring at alternator due to the high electric demand and 140 Amp alternator.
