EPC on windows 7 Posted by PaulS [Email] (#676) [Profile/Gallery] (more from PaulS) on Mon, 12 May 2014 18:31:08 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
My copy of EPC won't install on Windows 7. However, you can create a virtual machine on your windows 7 box, and run XP and on my system EPC seems to work fine on the virtual machine.
(I would not be surprised if software that communicates with the Tech II does not work properly. I don't have a Tech II or WIS so I can't comment).
I tried this a while ago using Microsoft's directions and I could not create the virtual machine because I only have Windows 7 home. However there are hacks out there that makes this work. I used one from You Tube (how to install windows XP mode on windows 7 home premium). Even tho I only have windows 7 home basic. The "catch" is that you need a windows XP product key. If you are replacing an old XP machine, you should be able to snag the key from that machine provided it is no longer in use. If you have the "right" version of windows 7 you won't need the key (or the hack).
I also think XP mode won't run on windows 8. And yes I know windows XP is off support and I don't care for this application.
