Experience with aerosol intake fuel cleaner?

I'm curious if I should give an intake cleaner (specifically the kind sold by CRC) that is sprayed directly past the throttle body, once the MAF and air filter have been removed is a good thing for the B202 engine. I would think that the cleaner would get rid of burnt-on fuel oil deposits that a fuel-tank additive cleaner would not reach....but I'm more concerned as to what could be damaged down the line with the turbocharger. Am I off-base here?
I've usually had a mechanic do a BG engine flush once a year, but as of late since my '94 vert has been just barely failing the emission inspection...I've been told to take the issue into my own hands and get to cleaning carbon build up on those ports and valves via the throttle intake.
This YouTube video is what I have in mind of the fuel service I'd like to do on my own...
