If you look under the exhaust manifold you'll see the block drain assembly. It's an aluminum housing that is bolted to the block with three bolts. There are two drain plugs in the housing. The lower 19mm plug can be removed to drain the block. It's well located on the block and does a good job of completely drain the coolant. Sometimes the drain passage get gunked up and I have to poke thru the hole to get it to drain. The other larger plug is for the block heater. That's a slick arrangement. Take out that plug and the Saab block heater screws in place of the plug. I used to lie on my back under the engine to drain the block. A 19mm socket on a swivel, extensions and face full of old antifreeze. Finally I switched to a 3/4" box wrench from above. I'm able to reach down around the manifold and get the plug out by feel.
