Vibration over 70 is a wheel bearing Posted by vvack0matic [Email] (#1443) [Profile/Gallery] (more from vvack0matic) on Sat, 5 Jul 2014 05:53:51 In Reply to: Question about CV joint quality, Harold, Fri, 4 Jul 2014 22:35:05 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Would kinda suck to replace the wrong part. A bad outter cv joint will make the steering wheel pop turning around corners. The pop is so pronounced and so distinct it is unmistakeable when it happens. A bad inner cv joint will actually spin the inner driver around the axle tri pod when trying to take off from a stop with heavy throttle. The noise it makes is a loud ,thud thud thud and the car goes nowhere. To get the car to move with a bad inner cv one needs to gently apply the throttle.
The vibration you have will get much much worse. You'll be able to bounce a dime an inch off the dash at 70mph a few more months down the road. I'd say don't worry about the vibration until your able to bounce a quarter an inch. Then you'll know 'ah yes its is a wheel bearing'.
