For exterior lighting, it's a lot of expense. Regular incandescent bulbs are more than adequate.
If you have to use them for taillights and turn signals, get the tower style. The reflectors on the C900 taillights and turn signals are designed to spread the light from the sides of the bulbs and illuminate most of the plastic lens, including the side.
Observation: A few years ago, when LED taillights were new, I was driving behind a Chevy pickup that had LED taillight bulbs with the LEDs positioned so they only showed towards the rear of the vehicle. All there was to to indicate that he had pressed his brake pedal was a little 1-inch circle of light in the middle of each 4-inch square taillight lens. If you were behind him, you had to pay very close attention to what he was doing. I wonder how long it took before somebody rear-ended him.
On the other hand, they're good for interior lighting: I got green WLED-5 from superbrightleds.com to replace the instrument cluster lights. They're a vast improvement over the incandescents. Check out Poop Deck Pappy's gallery to see how the instrument cluster looks under their influence.
