Thanks for the info. The Bentley is on order. Looking forward to having a copy so I can do diagnostic tests. I have another issue that you might be able to help me with. 86 900S. The car starts and runs for about a minute and then the engine starts to shake and stalls out. The AMM tests out at 388 ohms resistance but from what I read on this forum the AMM could still be bad???.......apparently there is a 3prong test plug on the pass side fender but I'm not sure what wires to hook up?I cleaned the AMM & AIC about a year ago but I'm going to clean them again.
IAC test procedure for the pins 1&2=20,2&3=20,1&3=40.........the FPR tested OK and the NTC sensor tested OK.
Tapping the AIC with a screwdriver does change the idle......Is this valve necessary if you have the air conditioner removed from the car ilk I do.
I guess I'll have to wait till I get the Bentley to test the Ignition module, Hall sensor and 02 sensor. These cars are well enginered and normally very reliable but the engine components eventually get tired after 28 years and getting harder to find. The 86 900S is the perfect winter car up here in Winnipeg and I'd like to keep the old girl running. :-)
