What kills these cars is the rust that invades the lap seams in the bodywork. There are many. It is fed not so much by road salt, though that starts some of it, as by the moisture in the air.

I spotted a cheap tent-type portable garage for less than $200 in a recent Harbor Freight flier. Put plastic down on the ground, plywood or planks so the wheels don't sink into the ground, set up the tent, and park your car there. Should last three or four years. Cheap insurance.

It would be a tragedy to bring a rustfree dry-climate car here to Maine and leave it outdoors in the woods to rot away. However little you value it and however many other aches and pains it might have, it just doesn't seem right.
