That makes perfect sense. The reason for the swap is the current dizzy has a broken square plug, so I pulled the wires out the subsequent hole and siliconed them to the side of the unit to keep them from getting eaten. Thus leaving a half inch hole open the the elements. I've been experiencing missing at speed and wonder if years of dust and moisture due to the opening have taken their toll on the hall sensor.
Although when suddenly the missing got really bad, I limped to the next town and filled up the tank with premium (12.8 gallons) and she ran much better on the 300 mile road trip. Fuel pump probably.
