Well, I might just order some of the BDX53Cs and replace some of those on the heat sink. Thanks for the links.
As it now stands, the ECU I'm running is the one that sometimes fails to send fuel injector pulses, when it's very cold in the morning. Yesterday, below 10 degrees, wouldn't start. Brought the brain inside and once at room temp returned it to the car and bingo, started right up and ran fine. I drove it around town all day and no problem.
That was, after resoldering the leads to all the power transistors on the board, no improvement. After then baking it in the oven at 385 F for 12 minutes, still no improvement, won't start when it's say below 10, will when it's mid-teens or warmer. Today, in the teens, started right up.
Retrospect Saabworks, local indy, will sell me a used ECU for $100 but I think I'll pass, limp along with what I have till spring and hope the car never cools off so much while I'm parked away from home that it won't restart.
I'll try to visit the few local junkyards that might have C900s looking for a cheaper brain. If I buy the transistors I'll get enough of them to also re-do the two older NA ECUs I have and hope that one of them also gives me a working unit, because I don't like driving knowing it could die on the road on me.
And I'll instead spend the money on the head gasket kit for my 9000 and work on getting that back on the road.
