Yeah, check for play where yoke links to pedal shaft as blacksheep and Vern have suggested. Another problem some have mentioned is that the return spring internal in the master cylinder has broken.
First thing I'd do is rebleed the clutch using CMyles's system, wrap some teflon tape around the threads of the bleed screw and reinsert it, pop a long piece of clear poly tubing onto the bleed nipple, fill tube with brake fluid, and loosen bleeder screw while maintaining light pressure on fluid in tube by sticking its end in your mouth and blowing. Watch for any bubbles to come up in the brake fluid reservoir. When they stop, tighten bleed screw, remove hose and wipe up any spilled fluid.
If that doesn't fix it then either invest in a master cylinder rebuild kit or a new master cylinder. If on disassembly to rebuild, you find the cracked spring you in fact need a new master, or else a used one to pull the part from.
