Are the early and late model fuses in the same place in the engine bay? I think that when there is a double fuse, one is for the retract and one for the extension mode. In my case the fuse for extension was blown, so it wouldn't go up, but it would come down. They were pushing the button to get the top to force down to latch == when the top was replaced, the fabric wasn't stretched so it made the motor work harder to get the frame down to the windscreen cowl -- holding the button forcing the motor to draw current must have blown the fuse.
