5-Speed Shift Coupler Question

Hello,
I have a question regarding shift couplers.
I have a 1990 5-speed which has the older style (ROUND) coupler and it needs to be replaced. It is no longer offered by Saab.
I am told that the newer "dogbone" style coupler 4279634 is what will work in it's place. It may even have been superseded by Saab to this newer dogbone style.
Can anyone please confirm if that is true?
Thank you!!
