Other than being over careful, one technique I've used is to heat cycle the bolt threads and housing interface. Let it get hot and cool off, repeat a few times, and then try to remove the bolt.
On really stubborn ones, I've heated up the housing, then hit the bottom of the thread bolt area with canned air which is cold and the combination of the steel threads shrinking and the aluminum expanding, help to open the thread interface.
One time, a tap broke down inside the bolt threads during cleanup and that was a story to tell, but not something I want to repeat anyway. Let's just say it got my attention.
