The best reference you can get is the wiring diagram in the Bentley manual. As far as what you've described wrt wiring, there should be a total of three wires connecting to your coil; a blue/white one goes to the negative terminal, another either white or white/yellow goes to the positive terminal and a single black wire goes to the small capacitor located above your coil. This black wire terminates on the body of your distributor. Anything else has been jimmied up to the coil. You should definitely get your fan sorted out, as it is already almost 25 years old, and will eventually crap out from the constant running. There are only two wires running from each fan; they are green and black and enclosed in a green sheath, which is zip-tied into the the vertical channel of the fan housing. Each fan has a corresponding two-terminal female connector coming out of the wiring harness which runs along under the radiator. Hope this helps.
