I found that the easiest tool for removing and installing the upper control arm bushings is an 8-inch long 1/2" carriage bolt, 2 appropriately sized nuts, a couple of large washers, and a 27 mm 1/2-inch drive deep socket.
I tried using an arbor press without much success because the bushing kept cocking in the bore instead of going in straight. The bolt keeps it straight in the bore.
Yesterday, I did two upper control arm bushings using that tool in about 10 minutes.
That said, a large bench vise is almost indispensable and an arbor press is very handy for lots of things.
