Not a bad starter Posted by SaabStalker [Email] (#1098) [Profile/Gallery] (more from SaabStalker) on Mon, 12 Oct 2015 19:46:54 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Have this bare bones 92 turbo auto box topless vert. I move it from time to time to give the grass a break. after about a 4 month sit, I put in a fresh battery and it started, but the starter sounded a bit sluggish. Not wanting to let it sit so long after a week I tried to start it. It just clicked (freshly charged newish battery). First thing I did was clean the grounding bolt and terminals by the radiator. Then I started tapping the solenold, and then starter. No change. Just the familiar click of what I think is the relay or solenold. I tried the usual jiggling of the shifter and also moved it from park to neutral. No difference. Then I used a screw driver across the starter terminal and the starter turned. I did this with key off and in on position. I then (not having full understanding of the starter) thought the starter was bad. I replaced the starter with a new one I had. went better than any previous change out. Still the same, same clicking sound and no start of new starter. Tried jiggling the shifter again. OK what do I do next?
