Sounds like it might not be charging properly.
It's often one of 2 issues:
- The ground wire between the alternator and the engine or body that's the issue - they get frayed and don't conduct as well as they should.
or
- Voltage regulator
When you replaced the brushes, did you solder new brushes into the old voltage regulator or did you put in a new voltage regulator. If you replaced the whole voltage regulator unit, is the new one a Bosch unit or an aftermarket unit?
With the car running, check the voltage between the battery terminals. It should be around 14.3 bolts is the voltage regulator is working properly.
I recently had a similar problem with my '90. It had a Chinese-rebuilt alternator but the battery was draining after a few days. Turned out that the voltage regulator they'd used was bad. Same thing happened to Poop Deck Pappy on this board - rebuilt alternator with a bad voltage regulator.
I usually run a #10 or thicker cable between the upper clamping bolt on the alternator and the A/C compressor to make sure that there's a good path from the alternator to ground.
