That is a fantastic welder, enjoy! I've always gotten really good results with the products I've purchased from Eastwood Company and they have some of the best customer service around. I'm fortunate to live about 45 minutes from their retail store in Pottstown PA and have visited many times. The people working there are car people and truly interested in helping to get you the best product for the project you have versus up-selling for better numbers.

Back to the welder though, I've been welding on and off for a few years now (I have a Lincoln) and a few months ago I got more serious with my projects. Being self taught I decided I could benefit from some quality training and I wanted a more comprehensive understanding of shop safety. I learned that they offer hands on training classes at their retail stores, so i signed up. I think I paid $35 and it was a 4 hour class (ended up being a little over 5). They cap the class at 6 and I really got a lot out of it. We mainly worked with the 175, but our instructor did pull out a 250 for us to mess around with for a little while. Which brings up another reason that I like them so much, they'll let you test out the equipment before you buy. About midway through our class two guys came back to the shop with one of the sales guys and tested out the 175 and a plasma cutter. You can't beat getting some seat time before you purchase (obviously this only works if your near a retail store). If I were in the market today I would buy one of theirs, though I'd probably spring for the 175 versa-cut 40 package. Someday.

I didn't have a chance to watch your video, but I imagine you'll be getting yourself a better helmet. Don't skimp here, its not worth it. Don't waste your time with one from HF or some knock-off brand. On the other hand, you don't need to spend $300 either. Get yourself a quality helmet that your comfortable with, and one (in my opinion) with the largest lens possible. You'll thank yourself when your lying on your back on a cold concrete floor with spark falling in your face. Oh, that brings up another point... protect your hairline with a welding beanie. Don't worry they're 5 bucks.

Now... go get some metal and start practicing! And post your progress

Good Luck,

Alex

By the way, I am in no way affiliated with The Eastwood Company. I'm just a s
