The two responses helped me so very much, because this was truly a case of overlooking the obvious, something I don't usually do. I just haven't given it much thought since I removed that strip with the holes in it in prep for top replacement, but had not gotten there yet for lack of garage room. I took a reactive approach to get the wet out, but due to cold had not even started that operation, thereby NOT going on to prevention. I am sure if I dry out the foam backing and carpet after sealing those holes with some of that black body gum, the problem will stay fixed until top is replaced. again this forum and the people that visit it made any Saab owner life easier.
