Really bad gas Posted by poop deck pappy [Email] (#2012) [Profile/Gallery] (more from poop deck pappy) on Mon, 18 Jan 2016 14:28:49 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I just got a car that's gas has partially turned to jelly. I think the last time the car ran was in Sept, 1997. Its a 1993 3dr turbo. Most of the small vacuum lines, tires and headliner are rotted. The rest of the car is great with no rust. Really none. Something I've not seen in years.
I've emptied the tank. Changed the fuel filter. I'm thinking about removing the banjo bolts on the fuel rail and flushing with fresh gas. I'm worried about the fuel in the lines.
Does anyone know what dissolves this jelly? The fuel sender is caked in the same varnish, preventing the float from moving. I put some fresh gas in the tank and will pump that out in a few days and was hoping it would dissolve some of the jelly. Any experience with really bad gas is appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
