The key and ignition switch mechanism Posted by SaabStalker [Email] (#1098) [Profile/Gallery] (more from SaabStalker) on Sat, 23 Jan 2016 16:07:18 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
In taking apart the mechanism for a 900 automatic to take pictures to send to another Saab owner, I started asking myself about purposes of certain parts. His problem was he thought his ignition switch was bad so he replaced it. After that it started once and then the key would not turn off. 1. Is it possible to misalign the gears between the bottom of key and ignition switch? 2. I noticed the pin extending from the bottom of the key switch to be gunked up and not moving down far enough, what is the purpose of the key switch probe that touches the rocker ? 3. What does the rocker arm do when it presses up on the other pin that seems to go into the ignition switch? I cleaned the key pin and it operates freely but again what's the purpose?
