Yes, and the trouble is that the sensor is not on a plug so you have to marry the sensor to the plug pins or patch in the wiring which is usually a real mess.
It used to be that you could buy a pre wired sensor that had a plug that would fit into the distributor, and then the mating plug would connect.
Being that the turbo is right below the plug on the distributor, these connectors get cooked -- mostly well done and then baked, and then boiled, seared and toasted......the plastic is just gonzo by the time a few years passes, and a 1989 is going to show some age and brittleness.
