Hummmmm, I find all of my ignition switch issues have involved a no or multi attempt key turn to start symptom. Once started I have had no issues related to the ignition switch, however that's just my experiences. Did the car start right up again with the key? Having a new switch is likely more preferable, but why spend the $100 if that's not the problem. I'd look other places also. Such as the fan pull down at idle discussed yesterday or some other wiring issue I am not smart enough to know about. I do recall a time the skinny grey wire that goes from the oil dip stick tube bracket to the brake line support bracket on the left wheel well broke while driving the car. The car shut off immediately. I saw that skinny broken wire and its grounding purpose and said to self that's NOT the problem. I'm under the bonnet and a friend from the school stopped. He was the auto shop teacher. He says look at that loose wire. So at his urging I reconnect it. Car starts right up. He left feeling like a genius and I got in the car feeling Dum da dum dum duuum. Sometimes its a Saab simple thing.
