All my cage stuff is for Southern California Timing Association specs in the 200mph category. The best suggestion I have is to not paint yourself in a corner. Or, paint EVERYTHING in sight before you lay in a cage in other words. Don't wait to do anything to the interior before the cage is installed, and make darn sure that the chassis is straight before you weld anything in place. We loaded a dummy engine ( weight and balance ) to a chassis after massive rust repairs were done by cutting out all the challenged areas, and installing new metal. So, there was a substantial amount of work done prior to the cage install, and once we knew the chassis wasn't warped, the cage structure was installed within. Tie the inside cage to the outside shell as that will stiffen it up to no end.
