The socket will turn over the engine, but I don't think it will turn on the ignition. I used that trick on my 1981, but then abandoned it when we discovered that the primary voltage wire connecting to the alternator was loose, then we never had to do that again. So, we would turn on the key, and then use the socket to engage the starter. I think you have something different.
There is of course a way to manually jump the wires, but what I do is get the cover console off, then take a separate ignition switch with the little mating gear and use the gear to turn on the parasite iggy switch.
So, what you do is take the spare ignition switch and move the wires one by one clocking them the same in the same position, and then use the little gear to turn the key.
This is of course if you are able to unlock the key to get the shifter from being locked in place. If the shifter is stuck, then you have a different problem, and have to take out the driver seat, punch out the iggy lock per the bentley and on and on and on.
Of course pouring on the boiling water is a whole lot easier to try to begin with........
