Yeah, FAG is a really old and respectable bearing company, probably similar quality to Timken. I have a FAG pilot bearing in my clutch, and it has caused no trouble. I also think I used a FAG wheel bearing once, years back, and as far as I know it does not give the car's current owner any trouble. The originals were SKF and often failed after 100,000-200,000 miles depending on conditions and torque on the axle nut.
I guess the problem is that you ordered something you could have ordered for $20 less, and that stings. You could return it and just buy a FAG one for $20 less. That's probably what I would do - except I would have just bought the FAG one in the first place.
On a side note, FAG is the descendent company of the company that owned the ball bearing factory in Schweinfurt, Germany, that the Allies bombed multiple times in WWII, at great cost. Frustratingly, it always got back up to production within a few days of the bombing.
