Alternator! Posted by Snowmobile [Email] (#686) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Snowmobile) on Thu, 9 Jun 2016 12:58:04 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Posted about a week or so inquiring re this... I now understand why one should remove this thing as a last resort only if all else does not work! My gosh it is hard to extract. Got it out. Now just waiting for parts from eeuro which are a bit delayed. Fortunately I had time to do it bit by bit in short periods over several evenings... I think if we lived in a salt free climate it would have been significantly easier. the 6mm allen bolts did not fit 6mm keys, probably due to corrosion, and were severely seized so those barely came out (using a torx and I will replace the bolts with fresh). Even disconnecting/moving hoses etc, it is very tight to get the old alternator out!
If there is anything else I should do while I'm in there, let me know! I plan to do alt bushings + new belts, but nothing else so far.
I probably should have left this one with my indy, but so far so good!
