9000 A/C Compressor on 900? Posted by ChrisMiami [Email] (#1592) [Profile/Gallery] (more from ChrisMiami) on Sat, 16 Jul 2016 10:03:29 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
10 years ago on another 93 900 Conv, my A/C compressor went bad and the shop I took it to said it'd be an upgrade to use the compressor from a 9000 instead of replacing with another 900's compressor.
On my current 93 900 Conv, the A/C compressor has just failed so I'm faced with replacing it (and probably doing the R132 conversion). But I was talking with a local shop and they showed me that some 9000's used a different belt system and the connections were routed differently (out the top instead of the back) and that it might be more work than it'd be worth.
I live in Miami where it's brutally hot and humid. The old A/C worked so well I'd get frost on the windshield, so I'm inclined to at least think about it. Anyone have experience with 9000 A/C compressors on a 900? What specs does one look at to evaluate if the compressor is "more powerful" or not? What model years would be best candidates? Should I just try to find one made for the 900?
Thanks!
