I really like the puller idea, but I have always used a short bolt with a big, thick washer (the ones for the front seats work great) and an extra long 15mm combo wrench. Bolt into the shaft, washer on the bolt, open end of the wrench between the washer and the trans case levering on the bolt head, and a quick smack with a sledge on the box end of the wrench. Angles work great, and the shock is what you want to free the shaft.
If you haven't already, remove the fans from the radiator, then use a Dremel with a cutoff wheel or (painfully) a tiny file to cut a slit into the broken bolt. You should be able to use a screwdriver to turn it out. Although not ideal, nothing bad should happen if you scar the head of the input shaft, that surface isn't important.
