I am not sure if you will see this (Cmyles) as it has been a few years since your original post... but here's hoping....
My speedometer cable broke years ago, i recall hearing the sound when it broke so I felt that all it was was the cable. Now I have the new cable installed into the instrument cluster and wanted to connect it (seemingly easy) to the picture you posted. Well - actually the part that sticks into the speedo hear hole. Not sure of the name.
However, the cable won't go in, so with a mirror, I looked and I see a brown cap that doesn't allow me to stick the cable in. If this makes any sense.
I am not at the point where I've removed the metal retaining ring and need to remove the external speedo gear (?).
Do you know the size of the nut? I'm thinking it is either a 25mm or a 26mm nut as I have a 24mm and a 27mm and they don't fit!
Second, after removal, is it possible that the "brown" piece I am seeing is the bottom of the old speedometer cable? My end is missing the internal piece that pokes into the external speedometer gear.
Not sure how to post a picture of this....
Thanks in advance for any guidance....
Brian
