I'm getting inconsistent readings from my voltmeter while driving around town in my 86 SPG. The needle is moving fairly regularly between about 13 volts to just above 10 but I know it should be a pretty consistent 12+ volts when driving. After driving for an hour this afternoon, the voltmeter read about 10 volts so I got the car back to the garage and after turning off the ignition I used a multi-meter on the battery and it read 11.7 volts. It's a brand new battery and shouldn't be giving me that low of a readout so I'm clearly having some kind of charging or grounding issue.
This summer I've replaced the alternator, distributor, cap, rotor, plugs, wires, and battery cables. Not sure where else to troubleshoot...any suggestions?
