87T 9 volts at Fuel Pump When Cranking Posted by Roger D [Email] (#1121) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Roger D) on Tue, 3 Jan 2017 09:31:08 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
My friends 87T has had an intermittent no start condition for a year. Getting worse lately. It doesn't have fuel pump action during cranking at a no start episode. We jumped fuses 27 & 30 and it starts right up. Checked the voltage at the pump plug and get 9 volts when cranking. That is lower than I remember from my LH2.2 years. I thot it should be about 10.5 volts. My question is if a relay can deliver weak voltage. We thot that relays either work or they don't. We cleaned checked the ground. I'm worried because I saw low voltage like this in a 86 16V years ago. The owner ended up replacing the white power feed wire from the relay all the way back to the pump. (yes, I happened to have that complete wire with factory ends in stock back then)
