I just did this on an 84, with some help from my mechanic. Most of the work is done from underneath the car. We ran into trouble once everything was hooked back up. Compare the old starter closely to the new one, particularly the connectors on the solenoid. The reman starter had a spade connector the old one lacked. Hooking up the battery powered the starter continuously because the positive cable was in contact with the extraneous connection. We snipped that off, and the starter worked fine. The good news, if that's the right term, was that we were able to remove the old starter and replace it without having to remove much else of consequence. Best of luck.
