My Scanwest rebuild has been excellent. At least in the 5-speed category, they were an excellent source for a rebuilt unit.
Back in 2008, the five-speed in my 87 900 tbo lost a tooth on the ring gear and the case subsequently cracked apart. I contacted Scanwest (I think I spoke with Eric) and they had a recent rebuild that was ready to ship sitting on their shelf.
That replacement transmission went in and has been operating flawlessly ever since. I'm pretty easy on both of my 900s when driving in Los Angeles and I'm hoping to get a lot of miles out of the then newly-rebuilt unit; performance is down the list of my priorities. Maybe the opposite of what you're seeking.
I bet they'd be happy to consider whatever options exist for a 4- or 5-speed in your rebuild if you're hooking it up to an engine-performance monster like what you're describing.
I like the way Scanwest treated me and they listened to all of my concerns and offered some tips in for the break-in and afterward period. And the unit itself has been working great. I just realized in this analysis that it's got about 95k miles on it.
From a remote location at least, Scanwest was excellent.
