Just turn the guage upside-down Posted by striictly sweedish [Email] (#2026) [Profile/Gallery] (more from striictly sweedish) on Thu, 16 Nov 2017 20:03:15 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I have just installed a VDO 0-80 psi oil pressure guage (w. a 0-80 VDO sender) in my 1988 900TC and basically, the higher the revs when the engine is warm, the lower the pressure.
When cold, the guage reads about 20 psi regardless of engine speed. Once warmed up, at speed it reads about 20 but when the engine returns to 850 rpm it increases to about 55 psi; revving the engine to 2000 rpm decreases it to 25.
The S terminal leads is connected to the sender (single terminal) which is grounded to the engine (I did not use any kind of insulating sealer or threadlocker), the + terminal gets its power from the cigarette lighter (I tested the lighter connector is positive with a bulb and ground connection) and the third lower central terminal is grounded to the engine.
I presume the light which I connected to the dimmer switch is a separate circuit and polarity its polarity is not an issue.
I can't imagine what I might have done wrong. Can anyone see what I can't?
