In an effort to find better brakes than the reman calipers for my pre-88 cars, I've been reading as much as I can about bolt-on upgrades. Sam Carlson's "tutorial to end all tutorials" over at Saab World, holds out hope that mid-80s Toyota 4wd pickup calipers are simple replacements for the front calipers, and that 1990 Subaru Loyale front calipers work on the rear and have a handbrake mechanism. What I can't find is any evidence that anyone has done either of these swaps. Is this legend, or reality? I'd like to know, because I'm getting sick of replacing front calipers every six months or so. I know this is a perennial subject, but I'd welcome any input folks here can offer. Many thanks.
