Thanks guys. In doing some research, I found an alternate and more appealing approach from the UK. It seems to me like it will work.
Basically they said to disconnect the slave supply line and plug it with a bolt and then use a grease gun to reverse fill the cylinder. Because grease is much thicker than brake fluid, it should not leak out (at least not quickly) and I should be able to insert the wire that relives the tension on the plate. After it is placed, I should be able to just unthread one of the fittings to release the slave cylinder pressure. They said a typical grease gun can easily provide the necessary pressure and the grease gun should be able to pop right on the bleed valve fitting.
I already have the replacement slave so I have no intention of rebuilding the old one.
