I’ve posted about his before but have recently tried some new things to no avail. Since I put a new wire harness in my 86 SPG, the tachometer hasn’t worked. I did some research here and found that if the car starts and drives then the signal is good from the plug on the back on the cluster. I’ve now tried swapping in a different tach from an 85 and an 81 with no success and even tried mixing/matching the blue circuit boards with no success. The clock and all the warning lights work properly but the tach will not work, except for an occasional jump when I shut off the ignition.
Are there any bench tests that I can do on the tachometers themselves?
Any suggestions are appreciated as I’m getting quite good at pulling the dash and don’t really mind doing it again. ?
