Just some corrections/clarifications I thought I'd make...
The Trionic 5.5 CPS is a VR sensor . It has 3 wires, 1 is for shielding
The Trionic 5.2 uses a hall effect sensor. It is also three wires, but is an active (powered) sensor. It only came on 1993 9000. Kind of like Trionic Lite
The Volvo sensor I chose because it also was used on cars that used a flywheel driven CPS. It is a 2 wire sensor with no additional shielding. This sensor has a better airgap range with use on the flywheel vs standard reluctor wheel.
OBDII is almost exclusively 97+ cars. There is one part number in 1996 that is OBDII, but I don't think I've ever run across it. Most common ones out there are from 1999 9-3. They made a ton of them.
The 9-3 harness is shorter than the 9000 harness. I'm not sure why people like the 9-3 harnesses, other than the chassis connector is a little easier to work with although I'd just cut all that off anyway. Only other caveat is that some 9000s had TCS which means they are missing wiring for the air idle control valve and TPS.
The wiring harnesses I made/designed were made to fit as factory would. I wouldn't consider that for a show/race car only, just good practice. No cutting wires or making holes. There are some improvements that I plan on making to them for the next generation of harness including better plug and play diagnostics/tuning etc.
I did design a TPS adapter that I'll be doing a run of. The issue with the adapters is that they put the TPS connector in the same space as the AIC hose. It works, but I don't like it. The new harness has a 90deg boot in case one of these adapters are utilized.
I think that covers it , but if you have any more questions, let me know
