The nickname, Notnoel, comes from my graduate school days, when I was best friends and lived with a band called Not Shakespeare (four rockin' years!). They eventually put out a couple of albums and got an MCA recording contract by winning the "Snicker's Best College Band in America" contest. I helped finance a small part of their first album and am listed on the album credits (2.5 minutes of my 15 minutes of fame used up).

I chose to use the nickname on my first computer account at the university and have been using it ever since. It fit this site even better because there was already a user named Noel. If you are curious about the band, all of their music is archived here on Saabnet and there are a couple of Facebook groups about them as well as a smattering of their songs on Youtube. The link below takes you to one of my favorite songs
