I've had my 92 900 vert for twenty years now, interior switches def need maintenance
because, well it's a convertible! I have experienced better luck using PB Blaster
to clean contacts. Emery cloth, or steel wool is needed for heavy corrosion.
I have restored window switch operation by removing the unit, spraying PB blaster into any
holes, then start working the switches back and forth like mad. Hook back to wiring harness and try operating, you may need to repeat application. Wipe off any excess residue before resetting the unit back in place. I tried this with electronic contact cleaner with very poor results.
If you have access to the switch interior(the conv top switch comes apart fairly easily) I apply some dielectric grease to the contacts after cleaning to keep corrosion down.
Good luck!
